Leave the busy life behind and escape into the forested kingdom of life that has been vastly overlooked until now. Mushrooms are full of surprises, mystery and wonder. Bring your curiosity and prepare to be fascinated.
What You'll Experience
Join me on a tour through the mushroom habitats surrounding the Mount Shasta region where we will spend 3 to 4 hours covering topics of mushroom ecology, harvesting techniques, identification methods, and more. We'll spend time gathering mushrooms and bring our finds together where I will discuss each species, its identifying features, edibility, potential lookalikes, and more. It is my goal to inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world, and to build a foundation of confidence for those seeking to know their mushrooms.
In depth regional knowledge on all aspects of wild mushrooms, including:
-
Ecology - saprotrophs, mutualists, and parasites.
-
Identification Techniques - anatomy, macro-characteristics, physiology.
-
Edible vs toxic species - positive identification and guidance on distinguishing between edible and toxic lookalikes.
-
Indicators and fungal associates - reading the land and targeting species-specific habitats.
